Successful Delivery of SFZ25000KVA 115/38.5kV All-Copper Main Transformer for Ukraine Substation Reconstruction Project

I. Project Background & Core Customer Pain Points
This project focuses on the renovation and reconstruction of a key substation in Ukraine. The original old main transformers on site have been in service for a long time, featuring high operation loss, insufficient voltage regulation performance and poor adaptability to extreme climates. The local power grid has long been faced with severe operating challenges including large grid voltage fluctuations and extremely cold winter temperatures.
Ukraine’s power grid implements strict DSTU national standards and IEC 60076 international specifications. Imported high-voltage power equipment must obtain UA TR conformity certification before customs clearance and grid connection. The customer put forward stringent and targeted requirements for this reconstruction project:
- The original non-load tap-changing transformers cannot stabilize voltage during grid load fluctuations, requiring on-load voltage regulation design to ensure real-time and stable power supply.
- The local winter minimum temperature drops to -25°C, and conventional transformers suffer from poor low-temperature start-up performance and sealing failure risks, requiring special anti-freezing and low-temperature resistant structural optimization.
- The substation reconstruction schedule is extremely tight. The whole process from drawing confirmation and production to final shipment must be completed within 60 days, while the average delivery cycle of local Ukrainian manufacturers exceeds 90 days, which cannot meet the project progress requirements.
- To ensure long-term continuous and stable operation of the substation, the transformer is required to adoptall-copper windingsto reduce operational loss and daily maintenance costs.

- Special Anti-freezing Design for Ultra-wide Temperature Operation
The oil tank and radiator adopt thickened folded steel plate structure with low-temperature resistant special rubber seals. Low-temperature anti-freezing insulating oil is configured to support stable operation in the temperature range of -25°C to +40°C. The external anti-corrosion and low-temperature resistant coating effectively resists frost and rain erosion, and the optimized heat dissipation structure ensures controllable temperature rise under full load and no condensation under low-temperature no-load conditions.
- Intelligent Monitoring System for Centralized Grid Management
Standard equipped with online temperature monitoring sensors for oil surface and windings, and reserved remote monitoring interfaces. It can be connected to the substation automatic control system to real-time monitor oil level, temperature and partial discharge data, realizing early fault warning and reducing manual operation and maintenance pressure.
- High-level Insulation Compliant with Local Certification Standards
Adopts high-grade insulating materials, with partial discharge indicators far exceeding international and Ukrainian DSTU standards. The bell-type oil tank facilitates on-site maintenance, and the capsule-type oil conservator slows down the aging of insulating oil, greatly extending the service life and maintenance cycle of the equipment.
